The Wash Routine

Turn It Inside Out

Always wash inside out. This keeps the printed surface away from direct friction against zippers, buttons and other garments in the wash, which is the fastest way to introduce cracking and surface abrasion to a back or chest print.

Cold Water, Gentle Cycle

Wash in cold water on a gentle or delicate cycle. Cold water protects both the washed-black dye and the print adhesive, while a gentle cycle reduces the mechanical stress that causes heavyweight cotton to pill and stretch out of shape over time.

Like Colors, Mild Detergent

Wash dark tees with other dark garments to avoid lint transfer that dulls the deep black finish. Use a mild, dye-safe detergent and skip fabric softener entirely. Softener leaves a residue on fabric fibers that flattens the print's grip and makes cotton feel synthetic over time. Never use bleach on a washed-black finish, since it strips the tone unevenly and leaves visible patches.

Drying and Ironing Without Damaging the Print

Skip the tumble dryer if you can. High heat is the single fastest way to shrink heavyweight cotton and crack a printed graphic within a handful of cycles. Lay the tee flat to air dry, reshaping the shoulders and hem while damp so it dries true to its original fit.

If a dryer is unavoidable, use the lowest heat setting and pull the tee out while it is still slightly damp. Never dry a graphic tee on a high or extended cycle.

Ironing directly on a printed graphic will melt or lift it almost immediately. If wrinkles need attention, iron the tee inside out on a low cotton setting, or place a thin pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric. Never run an iron directly over a front or back print.

Storage Between Wears

Fold rather than hang for anything longer than a day or two. Heavyweight cotton holds its shape well, but a hanger will still stretch the neckline and shoulder seams over weeks of storage, especially on an oversized cut.

Keep tees out of direct sunlight in storage or on display. UV exposure fades a washed-black finish unevenly and faster than normal wear ever will, leaving a tee looking patchy rather than intentionally worn in.
